My work and ongoing research is guided by my interest in a contemplative approach to life and by my strong resolve to bring Steiner’s philosophical and pedagogical indications into dialogue with classic and contemporary ideas and research findings.
BACKGROUND
I have been interested in, and have studied Steiner philosophy and pedagogy, since I was introduced to ‘anthroposophy’ (the name Steiner gave to his philosophy), at the age of 18. In my early career my area of expertise was high school teaching in both mainstream and Steiner high schools, with a focus on the subject areas of English, Drama, and History. During this period I was a pioneer teacher at the Orana High School and Senior College in Canberra, where I participated in workshops and conferences on Steiner education, College Leadership, and Parent and Teacher Education.
More recently I moved into tertiary education and have taught postgraduate classes at the University of Canberra and Research Methods at the Metavision Institute. I am currently teaching in the Graduate Certificate in Steiner Education at the University of the Sunshine Coast. I was the leading research writer of the Academic Foundations Paper for the Australian Steiner Curriculum Framework and the High School English Curriculum. I am one of the leading researchers of the recently launched Steiner Graduate Outcomes Research Project.
My study and participation in The Metavision Institute and The Clairvision School of Meditation were transformative experiences which have strongly influenced and supported my personal growth and professional development. I continue to be actively engaged in spiritual inner work practices and to seek out critically reflective feedback from my peers and from professionals in the field of interpersonal skills.
